Janelle Monae wrote the fan favorite "Cold War" about her struggles as an African American female starting her career in music in hometown Atlanta. She dedicated the song to everyone, no matter what color, how they dress or who they love. The entire crowd was on their feet dancing to "Cold War." One of Janelle Monae's fan said her performance was "hype". Another new fan described her show an "Unbelievable". A mature woman said "She is wired. Don't ask her to go to sleep for another five hours."
Janelle Monae gave love to her fans at the Ottawa Jazz Festival and they returned the love. She had the audience out of their seats dancing, singing call and response to a jazz scat, and getting low and quiet during a "Tightrope" dance final. Janelle Monae commanded the audience from her electrifying entrance on stage.
